RAY-FIELD INT'L SCHOOL CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY, ROLLS OUT ACHIEVEMENTS

It was celebration galore at Ray - Field International Secondary School, Uyo as the school students, teachers, parents, politicians and Stakeholders in the educational sector rolled out drums to celebrate the 10 th Anniversary of the institution.

At the well attended colourful event held in the school promises, Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel who was the  Guest of Honour called for private sector participation in educational development emphasising that such participation would reposition the sector for greater height of achievement.

Represented by the Senior Special  Assistant on Education Monitoring, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet,  Governor Emmanuel spoke of his administration's resolve to give  Education  its pride of place and expressed  optimism that "... the partnership will launch the State into the pinnacle  of greatness, industrial  explosion, socio-economic  and political  emancipation".

He commended the entrepreneurial spirit of the school proprietress Mrs. Doris Edem, whom he said has  translated her vision to a domain for moulding great minds, thinkers, technocrats and other professionals  for the State and saluted the school management for maintaining  high standard  by leaving above board in it determination to inculcate  core values in the  students.

The State Governor described students of the institution as torch bearers in the society and urged  the them to take their studies sseriouly, shun attitudes capable of derailing them from accomplishing their goals in life and made a personal donation of one million naira in support of the school development project.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly,  Barr. Onofiok  Luke,  noted that the greatest investment  both government and the private sector should make is in education and used the occasion to call on individuals and Corporate  Organizations to  invest in the sector and ensure that our very leaders of tomorrow are  moulded from  the cradle 

While enjoining the students to draw inspiration  from his personal experience Hon Luke said that he encountered difficulties in his prime but God's benevolence, persevearance and hard work saw him through and urged them to stay focused to enable them accomplish their dreams.

Earlier, the school Proprietress Mrs Doris Edem,  expressed  appreciation to the school management , staff and parents saying they have been a pilar of support to the school from it inception and explained that their  support  has made it possible  for the college to produce  ambassadors of excellence in various fields of endeavour in the past ten years of the school existence.

She particularly acknowledged the support  of her  husband Ambassador  Sam Edem who is the Chairman, Board  of  Governors of the institution saying that the school, in the last decade has earned  laurels  including 16 slots in the United Nations Model Conference of 2014 in the United States  of America; 2014 Outstanding  Private  School Award from House of Representatives Committee on Education ,  First position  in the 2013 World Scholars Cup at the United Arab Emirates, First position in National French Language Competition in 2008.

She added  that the  school has  recorded impresive results both in West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council of Nigeria (NECO) Examinations.

At the anniversary celebration, some newly constructed  buildings including a Girl's Hostel named after the wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel were commissioned even as touch of colour was added  to the occasion as  students showcased  their talents in drama presentation, fashion  show, cultural display  and science  exhibition  mounted by Senior Secondary one students.

Several artworks produced by the students themselves were presented to the Governor in appreciation of his strides in the education sector.
